The Jules Verne University of Picardy The Jules Verne University of Picardy is located in 6 of the region’s towns : Amiens, Beauvais, Creil, Saint-Quentin, Laon, Cuffies-Soissons.

The University comprises 2 faculties and 6 institutes and is empowered to award national diplomas in all disciplines and at all levels. Since the beginning of the 2004 Autumn cycle, The Jules Verne University of Picardy has become a member of the LMD programme (Licence Master Doctorat or Degree - Masters - Doctorate). This harmonisation of degrees and diplomas is a European initiative that is recognised in all European countries.

The research

The Jules Verne University of Picardy is an important research centre with 34 research teams, 8 of whom are associated with the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research). There are two research teams in the field of chemistry, one of the main themes of the University’s scientific activities. Other fields where the University enjoys a reputation of excellence include fundamental and applied mathematics, information technology, political science and health with two projects funded by INSERM (The French Institute of Health and Medical Research). The research centre focuses on crop production and a significant development in biotechnology-based research is anticipated in association with the specialist business and research hub, “Industries et Agro-ressources”.
